Job Title: Library Circulation & Systems SupervisorInstitution: Bentley UniversityLocation: Waltham, MAJob Description SummaryBentley Library is seeking an energetic and creative person to join a team committed to providing the best user experience. Reporting to the Manager of Access Services, the Library Circulation & Systems Supervisor will provide technical expertise, day-to-day administration, and broad support for traditional and emerging library technologies, as well as identify opportunities to improve library services, accessibility, administration and potential integration with other systems. The Library Circulation & Systems Supervisor will be responsible for understanding the roles and tasks of all staff members in the department and demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide the best possible experience for all library users.Essential Duties• Supports, develops, updates, and documents workflows, policies, and best practices relating to the circulation module of the integrated library system (III/Sierra)• Works with Bentley’s IT team to ensure adequate system backups and production of appropriate reports and statistics• Gathers and analyzes data and prepares statistical reports documenting activities in the Library Services department; coordinates data analysis with other library departments• Provides direct service to patrons at the Library Services desk• Maintains and troubleshoots a variety of library equipment (e.g., security gates, document scanners, RFID scanners, self-check stations)• Opens and closes the building as needed• Coordinates interactions between vendors, the Academic Technology Center, and Bentley’s Systems and Network Security teams• Participates in an appropriate Boston Library Consortium Community of Interest (COI)Other Duties• Trains, supervises and evaluates student assistants (15-20 per semester) in the Library Services department• Checks the accuracy and productivity of student assistants on an ongoing basis• Performs maintenance on printers, copiers, fax machine, display monitors and microfilm equipmentMinimum Qualifications• Bachelor’s degree with 2-3 years of related work experience• Experience supporting an integrated library system, platforms, and software in a library• This is a Tuesday through Saturday position with occasional off-work hours required to handle system outages and routine maintenance; some flexibility in scheduling is required to cover staff emergencies Preferred Qualifications• MLS/MLIS/MIS from an ALA Accredited School• Experience administering web applications and APIs preferably related to academic library systems• Proven ability to work within a team environment and actively promote collaboration• Working knowledge of Tableau or other data visualization tools or willingness to learn• Understanding of SQL or willingness to learnWork Environment• Supervisors are responsible for maintaining an environment that is free from discrimination, intimidation, coercion or harassment, including sexual harassment.• Work is performed indoors in an office setting.
