Position commences Oct. 1, 2008. Prior to that, some immediate consulting opportunities are available. DUTIES: 1. Develop and implement marketing programs to build constituencies inside and outside the church. Maintain a welcoming environment. 2. Build alliances with other congregations and libraries in the region. 3. Lead the development and implementation of a selection policy and weeding practices that promote effective display of high-quality materials. Materials should reflect the congregation's theological perspective, which includes an openness to explore other perspectives within Christianity and other religions. 4. Keep current with new materials in theology and spirituality appropriate to a broad range of individual needs. 5. Review and develop policies for operation of the library that accommodate people with varying levels of technological competence. 6. Become knowledgeable about the patrons and communicate proactively with them to encourage use of the library. 7. Organize training of patrons in the use of the online library catalog. Troubleshoot basic computer problems. 8. Develop and disseminate a variety of bibliographies. 9. When appropriate, organize and manage volunteers to assist in any of the above.Additional Info & Requirements

Fort Collins First United Methodist Church has an exciting new position for a Resource Center Director to transform our 5,000-volume church library into a faith resource for the region. Our open-systems MARC catalog (OPALS-NA) was recently installed and there is funding to upgrade the collection and facilities. The director reports to senior church staff and relates to a corps of library volunteers. He or she will serve constituencies of adults and children. Our goal is to become the place where the ecumenical Christian community of Northern Colorado finds resources about its faith and how it relates to the rest of the world.
