Job Description

This position assists in creating lifelong library patrons by implementing services designed for patrons of all ages and backgrounds. Position oversees the programming for our library, while working directly with the Library Director. Develop and implement programming based on the needs and interests of the Salida community. Act as a main point of contact for staff and patrons with program inquiries. Communicate effectively with patrons, staff, and administration.

Part of your time will be spent assisting customers in the Children’s area. The library is open to everyone, and we work with people of all ages, backgrounds and skill levels. The rest of your time will be dedicated to developing and implementing programs, and various operational and administrative duties.

Knowledge of training and programming practices.

Skill in training a wide variety of learners.

Skill in designing, preparing and implementing instruction and training materials.

Requirements of work:

Some College/Bachelors or equivalent relevant experience.
Two years of customer service experience.
One year of experience teaching or presenting information to a variety of audiences.

Work is performed indoors; hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate computers and various types of tools and equipment.

The employee may be exposed to unpleasant conditions such as dim or bright lighting, dust, odors, toxic agents, electrical currents and vibrations.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally in excess of 50 pounds.

Candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment background check, which may include employment verification and a criminal history check. Any information obtained will be used to determine eligibility for employment in accordance with the law.
