Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities: LEADERSHIP: Guides the development of technology goals and objectives and works collaboratively with Library staff to identify technology needs, establish goals, and create policies involving technology. Supervises negotiation for licenses and contracts with vendors and oversees compliance. Finds the appropriate balance between staff/customer needs and network stability, with the end goal of any decision to be customer and staff focused. Provides Division supervision in the absence of the Director.MANAGEMENT: Manages the DPL Network Services department. Supervises Information Technology staff involved in communications, help desk, desktop, network system support and application development. Establishes goals and priorities for departmental employees and formally evaluates performance.TECHNICAL: Manages operations and projects for all aspects of DPL’s network and information systems, including PCs, servers, network, and applications such as ILS, databases, and email. Organizes, coordinates, evaluates, selects and assists in bringing appropriate new technology to DPL. TEAM BUILDING: Fosters a collaborative team environment. Runs a department based on trust and open communication. Communicates effectively with colleagues, internal and external customers. Works collaboratively with City and State agencies as appropriate. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of technology issues and project management in a technology environment. Skill in building and maintaining working relationships with multiple internal departments and external entities. Skill in proactively solving problems and developing solutions in a high-performance organization devoted to continuous improvement. Ability to guide the Network Services with an inspirational, forward-looking vision that encourages innovation and best practices. Ability to function in a collaborative service orientated environment and adapt to change. Ability to work with a diverse group of people. Ability to work independently and recommend decisions based on analysis. Ability to make complex IT issues understandable to others.
