Job Description

We are looking for a compassionate, energetic leader to manage youth services, resources, collections, programs, and the day-to-day operations of the Youth Services department. The Youth Services department is fast-paced and full of opportunity. Last year, the Youth Services team provided almost 1,000 programs and served more than 17,000 program attendees. The Youth Services Manager will be a member of the library’s management team and contribute to fulfilling the outcomes and overall vision of the library.  

The right candidate follows current library trends and is committed to literacy, diversity, inclusion and providing services to youth from birth - teen.  The right person is adept at technology, has a knack for leading staff, has great interpersonal skills, and is in tune with the whole community.

Education: Master’s in Library Science, ALA-accredited program required; Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred. 

Experience: At least three years’ experience working with youth in a public library and supervisory experience.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, Google Suite, and library databases. Knowledge of Sierra ILS is preferred. Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish fluently is preferred. 

The Community

The Wilkinson Public Library in Telluride, Colorado is in a small mountain community and resort area in the San Juan mountains of Southwest Colorado. The Library District’s permanent population is about 6,500 and the library serves more than 12,000 library cardholders with seasonal populations. The library is a community center providing programming, space and a large collection of materials for checkout.
