Job Description

We have an exciting FT (40 hrs/wk) opening for a Youth Librarian at the Highlands Ranch Library. The position will provide reference assistance and readers advisory to children, teens and parents using the library collection, databases and Internet sites. Plans and implements programming for children, teens and parents. Performs collection development and collection management at the branch. Serves as library liaison to Douglas County Schools, preschools, home schooling families, charter schools and other organizations that serve youth.

Salary could be increased to be commensurate with experience/skills. Applicants must have professional and current working knowledge of children and teen literature. Must have experience working with children and teens. Also must understand children and teen learning styles and reading levels, as well as child and adolescent development and parenting. Must also be aware of early literacy skills used in story times. Must have expertise in Internet searching and in providing reference assistance. This position requires some evenings and weekend work. A Bachelor's degree is required. Public library work experience with MLS degree is strongly preferred.
