Job Description
Summary
Manages integrated library systems operations associated with the effective metadata representation, discovery and sharing of library and archival collections
Essential Job Functions
Catalogs and classifies print and online information resources; analyzes and interprets resource data and applies appropriate bibliographic metadata standards and formats
- Evaluates system functionality, including assessment of departmental outcomes, system usage, and user satisfaction data; recommends and establishes system options and settings universitywide to optimize the representation, discovery and sharing of library collections and information resources
- Develops and implements policies and procedures, and oversees mediated lending of library collections and information resources
- Manages requests from faculty and other library users and obtains requested research and information resources
- Oversees the organization, processing and storage of library and university archive collections
- Manages and interprets copyright compliance issues associated with the copying and distributing of library-owned or licensed information resources
- Monitors and analyzes resource sharing data to support library strategic planning and collection development
- Participates in, and presents at, professional conferences, and collaborates with other library and archives professionals to coordinate local and regional initiatives for bibliographic representation and sharing of information resources
- Supervises and manages student employees, as necessary, to enhance their academic and professional development
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a master's degree
- Experience working with library cataloging, integrated library systems, interlibrary loan or other related experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or greater in library science or a related field of study
- Experience with using OCLC WorldCat Management System
