Job Description

Ability to establish a warm inviting workable library environment to promote learning and assures access to all library resources and services to support 21st century teaching and learning. Collaborates closely with classroom teachers to promote the integration of Educational Technology & Information Literacy skills (ETIL) integrated with district and state content standards. Demonstrated skills and abilities to ensure the success of all students, supporting the district’s new strategic plan VISTA 2010. Excellent communication skills in order to facilitate communication with all members of the community, students, parents, staff and administrators. Develops a strong collection, supervising current quality literature, online databases and promoting other resources like Discovery Education Streaming. Demonstrates knowledge and leadership in the use of library and information technologies; including the automated library system.

Aurora Public Schools uses Destiny the award winning browser based library automation system. Many online databases are provided by the district such as: EBSCO, World Book, CultureGrams, ProQuest, net Trekker, and Atomic Learning all made available through Discovery One Place. The Hinkley Library is a brand new addition designed by space planner Chris Klafehn. It is a marvelous space full of potential to make technology-enabled resources more readily available.
