Job Description

This position reports to the Head of Collection Management and Digital Services and is accountable for ordering materials for the library, assisting with accounting for library expenditures, and processing library materials. Additionally, this position is responsible for assisting with digitization and scholarly communication projects and will assist patrons at the circulation desk as needed.

This is a 12 month, 35 hour a week position, Sunday through Thursday schedule.

The anticipated start date for this position is in February 2021.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: 

• Providing basic patron assistance in the absence of librarians through face to face and digital methods, library systems and electronic and print information resources. 
• Effectively working with a diverse population of faculty, staff, students, and community members. 
• Providing accurate and timely administrative support to the librarians. 
• Ordering library materials electronically or manually, such as books, standing orders, periodicals, audio-visual items and supplies. Keeping records of all expenditures. 
• Reconciling shipments against invoices, ensuring non-duplication or shipping errors. 
• Tracking bills and records to ensure timely payment and ensure that orders are in accordance with library collection development policies. 
• Promoting library materials and services via digital signage, social media, and more. 
• Assisting other library departments as needed. 
• Attending department and library staff meetings. 
• Performing other related responsibilities as assigned. 

This position is best served by a person with: 

• Experience working with library systems and materials, including print and electronic resources. 
• Positive team player who is prompt, accountable and reliable. 
• Ability to work independently, take initiative and focus on high-touch customer service. 
• Detail-oriented, excellent organizational and communication skills, and comfort learning and using emerging technologies. 
• Previous experience supervising student assistants or staff. 
• A Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred. 
• Ability to develop credibility and trust with a wide range of constituent groups to be a successful resource to the Bryant campus community, students and families. 
• Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships. 
• Demonstrate flexibility and the ability to handle multiple priorities. 
• Strong written and oral communication skills. 
• Open and responsive to direction and feedback. 
• Demonstrated ability to maintain composure, solve problems creatively and respond to questions and concerns in a timely and supportive manner.
