Job Description
What exactly does a Library Associate do? Contrary to popular belief, Library Associates actually rarely have a spare minute to "sit around and read books". Library Associates are busy from the beginning of their shift until the end.
Library Associates' primary responsibility and objective is to consistently provide outstanding customer service to every GCPLD patron.
This is accomplished in many ways including answering questions in-person, over the phone, or electronically; helping locate archived materials such as a grandparent's wedding announcement in a small town newspaper on the other side of the country; learning about a child's interests and helping them discover something new to read; providing computer assistance, including help with mobile devices, to anyone who needs it; and connecting patrons to community resources within Garfield County for whatever they may need - food and clothing for a displaced family, medical care for the uninsured, help for job seekers, and mental health resources, just to name a few.
The duties of the Library Associate don't stop with customer service. When we're not helping our patrons we shelve books, unpack materials we receive from our partner libraries, mend materials, and help our fellow library team members.
What does it take to be a GCPLD Library Associate? Here are just a few things we're looking for:
The pay range for this position is $13.50/hr - $15.00/hr, 20 - 24 hours per week, final schedule TBD.
