Job Description

This is a 32.5 hours/week, 9 month position in a school library. The hours will be determined by the needs of the department. The primary objective of the position is to assist the Lower School Librarian with administrative duties and aid students in locating information resources. Other duties include: • Help students and teachers locate materials and use technology. • Encourage appropriate student behavior in the library. • Maintain circulation of library materials, library catalog, library supplies, and patron records. • Process and shelve materials (involves kneeling, reaching and bending). • Compile overdue notices, circulation reports, and bills. • Repair and replace damaged items. • Offer suggestions for purchases or withdrawals based on curricular needs, reviews, areas of high need, and requests from students or staff. • Help with library displays, special events, and preparation of bibliographies. • Ensure that the library is well-organized, attractive, and welcoming. • Use library technology effectively, including applications and basic troubleshooting of hardware. • Open and/or close the library following prescribed procedures. • Participate in professional development • Assist in the development and implementation of library policies and procedures. • Assist in the Raether Library as needed. • Other duties as assigned.

Additional Info & Requirements

Computer skills and experience working with children are required.
