Job Description

Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Libraries at the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) [https://www.unco.edu/library] seeks a creative, collaborative, inclusive, and enthusiastic individual for the position of Resident Librarian in Information Literacy and Assistant Professor of University Libraries, position number F99992. This is a 1-year contract-renewable position, not to exceed a total of 2 years, that reports to the Head of Information Literacy & Undergraduate Support.

Information Literacy Librarians are part of the highly collaborative Information Literacy and Undergraduate Support department. They are committed to facilitating dynamic, learner-centered experiences for all students. The successful candidate is responsible for teaching 3-4 courses per year as part of a well-established credit-bearing information literacy program. In addition to teaching credit courses, the successful candidate will develop and deliver 10-15 course-integrated instruction sessions per semester using innovative, active-learning techniques. The individual in this position will also engage with students by creating web guides, tutorials, and digital learning objects. The individual will also participate in assessment to support the continuous improvement of teaching and learning and to demonstrate the Libraries' impact on student learning to stakeholders.

The Information Literacy & Undergraduate Support department librarians maintain relationships with numerous programs on campus, including the Center for Human Enrichment, the UNC Honor’s Program, and University 101. The successful candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm for working with students from a variety of backgrounds and contribute to various outreach activities to cultivate campus partnerships. The University of Northern Colorado serves approximately 10,000 students, many of whom are often underrepresented at research universities. More than one-third of UNC undergraduates are first-generation college students, and more than one-quarter qualify for federal need-based financial aid. Of all UNC students, more than one-quarter identify as students of color. 

The successful candidate must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively, work collaboratively, and prioritize work assignments within a vibrant and stimulating environment. Minimum Qualifications:

Earned master's degree from an ALA-accredited library school or program by start date.

Experience teaching in libraries or other settings.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of techniques for evaluating/assessing student learning.

Experience using active, collaborative, or other innovative techniques to teach information literacy.

Experience working with diverse populations.

Experience implementing or facilitating outreach activities.

Experience with creating digital learning objects or tutorials
