Job Description
Coventry Public Library is seeking a part-time Reference Librarian who is eager to work with the public and provide excellent customer service. Primary tasks include providing reference to patrons in-person, via telephone, and email; assisting and instructing patrons on the computer; keeping up with current library trends and services; and performing additional library-related duties as required.
Other duties include managing the Library’s interlibrary loans; planning and arranging displays; and participating in collection development and maintenance.
A Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited library school is required, degree-in-progress considered. Must have a knowledge of principles and practices of professional library work; knowledge of current trends in reference services and library services for patrons of all ages; ability to interact effectively with library staff; ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing.
Schedule is Monday, 8:30-4; Friday, 9:30-5; and every other Saturday, 8:30-4. Hourly rate is $18.50 per hour. Must also be willing to work nights and Sundays (time and a half) occasionally.
