Job Description

AORN, a Denver based non-profit organization, has an opening for a Part-Time Library Technician in our Center for Library Services and Archives. The Association of periOperative Registered Nurses is composed of approximately 41,000 members in all 50 states and around the world. Our Center for Library Services and Archives is an integral part of providing research and information to AORN and our members, and this position is an opportunity to be a highly visible and valued team member. EOE Position Summary: Under the direction of AORN’s Library Manager, assists AORN staff, members, and library visitors in finding information and acquires, prepares, and organizes AORN library materials. Supports all library activities including customer service, reference, staff training, procedure development, interlibrary loan processing, document acquisition, item processing, serials management, collection maintenance, document management and circulation, and photocopying. Primary Responsibilities: • Assists library visitors, both in person and via email or phone, with document identification, location and retrieval using the library’s automated data systems. • Assists staff and members visitors in the use of library systems, resources and equipment and provides document and bibliographic support for staff and AORN committee members. • Researches, transmits and tracks requests for items borrowed from, and loaned to, other libraries (ILL). Maintains ILL records. • Creates automated borrower records for authorized users. Maintains automated patron database. • Prepares materials for cataloging, fills out cataloging work forms, and processes materials after cataloging. • Performs daily collection maintenance tasks including shelving, document check-in, serials check-in, and serials claiming. • Maintains item and serials records in online catalogs. Creates holdings lists from OPAC records. • Supports purchase and receipt of new materials through contacts with vendors, suppliers and service providers. Verifies shipments with orders and packing lists, and reconciles discrepancies. Supports budget development and expenditure tracking. • Responds to requests for photocopies adhering to copyright compliance guidelines. • Monitors supply inventory and orders supplies. • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: • High school diploma required, some college preferred. • Prior library experience required. • Recent experience with DOCLINE and OCLC interlibrary loan systems preferred. • Knowledge of NLM classification system and medical terminology highly desirable. • Excellent keyboard skills and attention to detail critical. • Experience with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and bibliographic citation management applications preferred. • Demonstrated customer service skills. Working Conditions: Works at a desk in a non-smoking office environment using telephone, computer, copy machine, and related business equipment. Attendance at scheduled meetings as required. Position is 20 hour per week, Monday – Friday, with infrequent night and/or weekend requirements.
