Job Description

We're hiring a tech savvy collaborator to be our Creative Technology Coordinator! You will be responsible for managing and implementing innovative technologies at the Library by working collaboratively with Library leadership and fellow staff members. You will create, develop and implement programs and services to support our patrons, enabling them to solve 21st-century challenges and opportunities. By providing our residents with access to emerging technologies, training in how to use them, and access to staff to support them in their learning and creating, you support the Library's mission, vision and values.   • CREATIVE TECHNOLOGY: Responsible for deploying new innovative technologies and revitalizing current systems: to include planning the system, creating cost analyses, ordering supplies, coordinating with vendors and outside partners, working on or supervising the installment of components, scheduling tests of the system and creating training for patrons and front-line staff in support of the new technology. Partners with library staff, volunteers, vendors and outside instructors to create and promote innovation programming. Responsible for the coordination of programming and training of impacted public services staff. Provides and ensures Creative Technology Team’s safety and equipment training, as well as one-on-one and group instruction. Provides and ensures regular maintenance and cleaning of the design garage and digital media studio, tools and equipment. Takes steps to repair or replace malfunctioning equipment promptly. Develops programming, conducts one-on-one and/or group classes using the tools, materials and processes in the provided spaces and ad-hoc locations. Adjusts and communicates changes in programming to partners and library staff as appropriate. Coordinates support to library staff, volunteers, vendors and outside instructors, which may involve communicating with both local and remote users in person, on the phone or by email. Troubleshoots computer problems as they arise. Establishes and maintains relationship with local area artists, makers, business owners, entrepreneurs for programs and outreach events. Hosts and/or travels to events in emerging and creative technology. Assists the volunteer program coordinator, recruits and trains local volunteers for the creative technology system. Collaborates with library staff and outside partners on long-term projects at the library and within the community.
  • COORDINATION & COLLABORATION: Assigns, trains, orients and supervises contractors, temporary staff, volunteers and interns in area of responsibility. Supervises volunteers under their area of responsibility and coordinates with staff system-wide. Coordinates access to resources, including the physical and virtual resources of the system. Responsible for maintaining partnerships and relationships in the community through outreach. Collaborates with public services and training teams to create department application and systems standards, maintenance procedures and operational procedures. Documents new department procedures. Coordinates various technology projects and patron technology projects. Gathers an appropriate team, researches technologies, schedules meetings, plans timelines for the project and oversees the deployment of the project. Performs administrative tasks such as answering emails, scheduling, preparing vendor contracts and agreements, reconciling purchases, reporting statistics, meetings with staff, outside instructors and community partners. Takes proper safety precautions to prevent accidents. Responsible for the safety of self, others, materials and equipment. Uses all required safety equipment and follows all safety regulations, policies and procedures. Reports all accidents and damage. Trains through existing programs to increase ability to respond to safety and emergency situations (CPR, AED, etc.)  Collaborates and coordinates with others in cross-functional teams to accomplish JCPL and division goals and objectives. Attends meetings and required trainings. Maintains professional skills and subject matter expertise through regular professional development and conference attendance. Performs related duties as required to meet the needs of the library.
  • FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY: Participates in strategic and budgetary planning procedures. Provides input to annual plans, budgets and assists with system-wide initiatives. Contributes to department evaluations and reports.

Colorado Driver's License within 90 days of hire.

Minimum of three years of related experience required. 

ITIL Foundations Certification preferred or to be attained within the first year of being hired. 

Bilingual (Spanish/English) abilities are a plus.
