Job Description
Directs overall library operation for the USDA - Forest Service, Forest Products Laboratory (FPL) in Madison, Wisconsin. The Forest Products Laboratory was established in 1910 to promote healthy forests, and to conserve and effectively utilize timber resources. Some current areas of research include advanced housing research, woody biomass, advanced structures research, composites, and nanotechnology.
Duties
- Supervises staff and sets FPL Library's quality standards.
- Serves as the principle experts for FPL reference questions and database searches.
- Conducts Library training and orientation for FPL staff
- Selects books, journals, and databases.
- Selects items for digitization
- Serves as FPL Library lead cataloger
- Manages FPL content within a shared online library catalog
- Oversees the storage and maintenance of the FPL history collection
