Job Description

The Reference and Instruction Librarian works collaboratively with the library director and other library personnel to implement and develop library instructional programs, reference services, outreach services, collection development, and other library initiatives. It is expected that this individual will accomplish assigned duties in an efficient, effective, competent manner and strive for improvement and excellence in all work performed. Additionally, this individual must understand the comprehensive role of the community college, and cooperate and work harmoniously with college personnel and the public. This individual will follow all college policies, rules, regulations, and guidelines as they relate to this position. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR WHICH THIS INDIVIDUAL IS ACCOUNTABLE 1. Provide and promotes reference services, bibliographic instruction, and research assistance in person, and online. 2. Support the library’s instructional program in person, and virtually, by providing information literacy instruction, seminars, workshops, and/or courses, and by assisting in the development of new instructional models. 3. Support the library’s instructional program by implementing ACRL’s Framework for Information Literacy into bibliographic and information literacy instruction. 4. Assist in cultivating an atmosphere that culturally affirms, includes, and demonstrably values people from underrepresented backgrounds by partnering with the library director and library personnel to intentionally design policies, services, processes, collections, curricula, and spaces. 5. Assist in collection development, maintenance, and weeding. 6. Assist with library outreach services. 7. Assist in providing interlibrary loan services. 8. Assist in the maintenance of the FDLP government document collection. 9. Assist in Hay Library, Western, statewide, and regional OER (Open Educational Resources) initiatives. 10. Use departmental technologies including, but not limited to, WorkFlows, LibGuides, LibAnswers, OCLC WorldShare, and VDX. 11. Accept additional assignments relating to cataloging, electronic resource management, collection management/assessment, or any other assignments that support the library’s functions. 12. Work a schedule that may include nights or weekends. 13. Engage in creative, scholarly, or service activities appropriate for a community college librarian, and stay current in the field of librarianship. 14. Help maintain the library’s partnerships with Wyoming community college libraries, the Wyoming State Library, and the University of Wyoming. 15. Interact collegially with students, faculty, staff, community members, and other library constituents. 16. Perform other duties as assigned by the library director.
