Job Description

The Montrose Regional Library District is seeking an energetic Youth Services Librarian to highlight our unique resources and bring them to the community.

We value candidates who have a positive and outgoing attitude.  You must be able to navigate the public library environment; possess strong communication and organizational skills; and are comfortable with people of all ages and from all backgrounds. An ideal candidate will be able to work with large and small groups of children and their caregivers; possess Spanish-language abilities (nearly a quarter of our population are native Spanish speakers); be able to work evenings and weekends; and have the ability to perform more physically intensive duties, which can include lifting and pushing heavy materials, bending and kneeling, and being mobile for much of the day. Youth Services work also includes outreach to local schools, organizations, and neighborhoods in our community.  You can learn more by viewing the job description on the library’s website: http://www.montroselibrary.org/job-openings

Due to the nature of this position, we strongly prefer a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited university and one year of varied and robust experience in a public library or an equivalent position. We offer benefits including health, dental, vision, and life insurance; retirement; and vacation, personal, and sick leave, in addition to holidays. The starting rate for a Youth Services Librarian is $36,800 annually, with an additional increase for a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited university; we will also provide an increase for proficiency in Spanish.

If you feel you would make a fabulous contribution to our library, please email your resume and cover letter to Tina Meiners, Head of Youth and Outreach Services: tmeiners@montroselibrary.org

The deadline to apply is March 31, 2021.

The Community
