Job Description

This position provides traditional and online reference services to all library patrons and is responsible for the design, assessment and delivery of information literacy instruction and the coordination and management of the Library’s electronic resources. In addition, this position participates in collection development duties, daily operations of the library and acts as Director of Library Services in their absence.

Essential Job Functions: Important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

●       Provide traditional and electronic reference services and manage other public service library functions

●       Develop, assess and teach information literacy instruction utilizing a variety of delivery modes for face-to-face and online instruction

●       Create online tutorials and digital learning objects for information literacy instruction for on-campus and distance learners

●       Develop and manage general and course related web resources, including LibGuides and other online tools

●       Collaborate with library staff, faculty members and instructional technologists to identify, implement and promote innovative online tools and services for both on-campus and distance learners

●       Serve as lead for the acquisition, management, discovery and troubleshooting of electronic resources; supervising the Library Technician and other support staff as needed

●       Manage the library’s Primo online presence and assist in the management of the Alma integrated library system

●       Collaborate in the design, development and maintenance of the library’s web presence; develop informational, instructional and promotional materials

●       Participate in library collection development and maintenance tasks, such as weeding, etc.

●       Supervise the implementation of interlibrary loan services and other public service operations as needed

●       Assist in the day-to-day operations of the Library, assisting users with accessing library resources, equipment and software, the campus LMS, etc.

●       Collaborate with faculty and other colleagues to actively support the teaching and learning process; serve on campus committees, task forces and teams as needed

●       Maintain current awareness of professional practice and demonstrate commitment to personal career development activities via participating with local, state, regional and national library organizations

●       Serve as the Director of Library Services in their absence

●       Perform other duties as assigned

Working Conditions

Occasional evening and weekend shifts. Requires skills for succeeding in an office environment using technology. During the course of the day, interaction with students, faculty and staff in person, by telephone and via online platforms is expected.

Additional Info & Requirements

Qualifications

●       Master’s degree in library and/or information science

●       Demonstrated working knowledge of current library processes, practices, & systems

●       A Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and student success

●       Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Preferences

●       An American Library Association accredited master’s degree in library or information science

●       A minimum of one to two years of professional library experience

●       Experience working in a community college library or other academic library environment

●       Demonstrated teaching experience for information literacy using a variety of delivery modes

●       Experience with and/or administrator certification for ExLibris’s Alma and/or Primo systems
