Job Description

Staff the Service Desk to help students locate materials and use library equipment. Open and close the Library, and manage the Circulation Department on Friday afternoons and Saturdays. File, arrange and inventory materials. Search for lost library materials and report results monthly. Maintain reference update materials. Maintain and compile monthly usage statistics. Responsible for shelf maintenance of all formats in Reference. Other duties as assigned.

Job Title: Library Technician I Class Code: G3C2TX Job Location: Grand Junction, Colorado (312) Position No.: 00145 Employment Type: Full-time Minimum Qualifications: One year of general library experience including typing, ordering, preparing, shelving, and maintaining library materials. This experience must be specifically documented on your application. It is also to your benefit to detail your experience with the Duties and Preferred Qualifications listed within this announcement. Substitutions: One year of college coursework including six semester hours of library science course work may substitute for the general library experience. A transcript documenting this coursework must be submitted if qualifying based on education. Conditions of Employment: Successful completion of criminal background check in accordance with Mesa State policy. Willing and able to work Saturdays and some evenings. Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with any Integrated Library System circulation module (Innovative Interfaces, Inc., or III, preferred). Experience searching databases and experience working with the public desired. Supervisory experience and work with young adults helpful. Experience working with Library of Congress, Superintendent of Documents and Dewey classification systems a plus. Required Competencies: General computer skills, good written and verbal communication abilities, and the ability to work independently and as a team member are musts. Excellent customer service skills, including the ability to communicate and resolve problems with patrons and Library staff, and the ability to follow established campus and Library policies necessary.
