Job Description

This position is located at the EERC, an international leader in energy and environmental research, conducting projects for clients throughout the United States and the world. We are looking for experienced, aggressive, scientifically trained, and market-oriented individuals to contribute to the success of the organization by performing one or more of the following functions:

  • Provide research and reference assistance in person and remotely to EERC staff (primary user group) and UND faculty, staff, and students. Also, provide EERC documents and products to the broader local, national, and international community when appropriate.
  • Assist with the maintenance of books and subscriptions and appropriate access according to format.
  • Assist with the facilitation and management of the services provided by the UND Chester Fritz Library such as interlibrary loan and cataloging on behalf of the EERC Library.
  • Comply with procedures for handling confidential and proprietary information.
  • Follow approved UND and North Dakota records schedules and procedures for retention or destruction. Help develop schedules as needed.
  • Ensure access to the EERC’s permanently active archives through the proper accessioning, processing, and cataloging of incoming and backlogged records and collections.
  • Utilize the EERC Records database to help manage the permanently active archives of the EERC.
  • Provide for arrangement and digital reproduction of EERC records for preservation or as requested by EERC staff and external requesters.
  • Maintain publications list for the EERC and its researchers (including writing citations for project deliverables).
  • Promote the services of the EERC Library and Information Services group and other campus libraries.
  • Participate in campus-wide library discussions.

  • Ability to work with standard computer applications and databases and working in a digital environment.

Minimum Requirements

  • Master’s degree in library/information science from a program accredited by the American Library Association. Degree must be completed no later than August 2021.
  • Graduate level coursework in archives and/or records management as part of the master’s program or the completion of a post-master’s certificate in archives and/or records management.
  • A minimum of 1 year of relevant research/academic library, archives, or records management experience (may include pre-professional experience).

  • Successful completion of criminal history records check.

In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the US and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or related course work in an engineering or science discipline.
  • Knowledge of electronic information resources in the science and engineering fields
  • Experience or coursework in document or media digitization and metadata.
  • Archives or records management certifications (for example, Certified Archivist of Certified Records Manager) or the desire to pursue certification after employment.
