Job Description

Assist library patrons at public desks in the Children’s and Teens' department; interviews patrons by telephone or electronic media (e.g. email, chat, text) or in person responding to service requests. Locate information in assigned area using electronic databases and resources, print library materials, the Internet, or other tools. Recommend resources for children, teens, parents, and adults for the purposes of education, information, or recreational reading. Accompany patrons to the appropriate resources and instruct / assist patrons in the use of library resources both printed and computer based. Assist patrons of all ages with their devices and technology including tablets, smart phones, laptops and personal computers. Help to create attractive and diverse book displays and help create a safe space for children and their grown-ups. Assist with library programs for birth-17 year olds. 

Additional Info & Requirements

Spanish language skills are strongly preferred as is experience working with children and teens. A passion for working with diverse youth is important and valued. The ideal candidate will have some Library work experience but a combination of youth work experience and education is also great. This is a part-time, non-benfited position.
