Job Description
Coventry Public Library is seeking a part-time Adult Services Librarian who is eager to work with the public and provide excellent customer service. Primary tasks include providing reference and readers’ advisory service to patrons in-person, via telephone, and email; assisting and instructing patrons in the use of various technology; and participating in collection development and maintenance.
Other duties may include managing the Library’s interlibrary loans and planning and arranging displays.
A Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited library school is preferred. Must have a knowledge of principles and practices of professional library work; knowledge of current trends in reference services and library services for patrons of all ages; ability to interact effectively with library staff; ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing.
Schedule is Tuesdays, 8:30-4; Wednesdays, 8:30-12:30 (summer only); Thursday, 9:30-5; and every other Saturday, 9-1 (9:30-5 in the fall). Hourly rate starts at $18.50 per hour. Must also be willing to work nights and Sundays (time and a half) occasionally.
