Performs work of a para-professional nature in the main library or branches, including public service, circulation and other in-house procedures. Assists the public at the libraries’ service desks by checking-out and returning library materials, collecting fines, issuing library cards, and registering patrons for museum passes. Provides a high level of customer service by greeting patrons, answering phones, responding to questions, and by helping the public find items in the library collections. Uses a computer to enter and retrieve data, search files, track service data, and other similar tasks when necessary. Assists with inventory, shelving materials, and reading shelves.
